Does anyone else suffer from thrush in the mouth, due to taking antibiotics. I think l may have it as my tongue is coated in white and l have lost a lot of my sense of taste. I have just started taking colomycin in Nebuliser for pseudomonas infection.

Mouth thrush
I use daktarin oral gel. It leads it quick and tastes pleasant x
You poor thing I got it once whilst using my old inhaler. The doctor prescribed Nysatin (?) and it cleared up quickly. Make sure you rinse / gargle thoroughly after your nebuliser and you should be ok. xx
I went through a lot of oral thrush infections a few years ago. My dentist prescribed Nystatin and it cleared it up quickly. The thought was that it came from steroid inhaler. I’m still using it but maker sure I have a good wash out with water after I use it.
I have in the past, since I've always eaten live yogurt every day and taken 20 billion probiotic capsule daily plus eaten pre and pro biotic food for good measure. When having thrush in the past I've cut out sugar - including fruit - which made a huge difference
Ahh that sounds awful I was told that can happen if you don't rince your mouth after taking inhalers? Never heard of antibiotics doing this 😰
I get oral thrush with steroid inhalers - Easy treated, I get 'Nystatin' of my GP, it works and tastes nice.
rinse mouth and gargle after inhaling antibiotic
My sister always gets it whatever antibiotics she is given. Your pharmacy will no doubt help you if you visit them 😉
I get oral thrush about every 2 months due to being on antibiotics 3 days a week. I'm used to it but it is unpleasant. I have oral liquid to coat my mouth.
Since eradicating black mould in our home, I don't get chest infections anymore. When I did and had ABs, they very often caused mouth thrush, and down below. I was then given a course of either Nystan and/ or Fluconizole. These meds usually cleared it up. Also used Gengigel. Also, some things can cause or exacibate the problem, such as NSaid's like Ibrabrufen, and also an inclusion in toothpaste, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS). Read the toothpaste packet ingredients before you buy. Now I use an electric toothbrush, I am now less inclined to bash the inside of my mouth, which would be the start of an ulcer. My mum used to get mouth ulcers, so I think it's in the genes.
Thanks everyone for your replies. I have ordered some Nystatin from online pharmacy which was recommended from a fe of you, hopefully it will clear it up.
I went through a really bad phase with oral thrush the year before last. It would seem to respond to the treatment and then come back. I was being prescribed one bottle of Nystatin at a time. In the end, I realised that one was not completely clearing it. I used two straight after each other and it cleared it.
Something else to consider is whether there is anything else going on. My GP did a blood test and it showed that I had iron deficiency anaemia. Since being treated for that I've been fine - no thrush at all.
I mention this as before the thrush, I had been on steroid inhalers and antibiotics for years. I had never gargled or rinsed my mouth (just forgot to do it!) and had never in my life had thrush. I suspect that the low iron levels had more to do with it than mouth rinsing, although I DO make sure to gargle and rinse my mouth out now as I NEVER want thrush again!
Good luck with the Nystatin. Hope it does the job for you.
xx Moy
