Low grade temp after lung surgery

Hello I just want to get some advice regarding my recent surgery and recovery. I had a bi-lobectomy in July. I didn’t need any further treatment and been recovering pretty well. Although in the last few weeks (since about mid September) I have notice I have been getting a low grade fever fluctuating anywhere between 37.3 and 37.7 also my resting heart rate is 85 which seems abit high. Apart from this I have been feeling pretty good in myself apart from abit of tiredness and my oxygen levels are 98%, so no concern there. I spoke to the Thoriac nurse about it and have a CTScan next week, to check everything ok. Just wanted to see if anyone else who had this type of surgery, experienced anything like this?

Hi Becky

Sorry no one has replied to you yet, I feel sure others have had surgery similar to your own but perhaps they will be along sometime soon. I have not had same procedure but from what you have said, it sounds like you are doing well and great you have been in touch with the nurse.

I'm no doctor but I would say temperature. Nothing to be concerned about but just keep an eye on it same for heart rate and speak with doc or nurse again if things get worse or 111service out of hours if u are really concerned.

Blf helpline during office hours may also offer advice or reassurance.

Best wishes for your CT scan.

Keep on doing well in your recovery.

Hoping things improve for you soon Becky and your CT Scan goes well. I’m sure if anyone can help you on the forum, they will.

Take care xxxx

I had lung volume reduction three years ago, and after being discharged I had difficulties breathing. I had to return for several days for iv antibiotics and chest drain, due to a build up of liquid. I think quite a few people experience setbacks after this type of surgery, so your doctors will see if anything needs to be done after seeing the ct scan. I’m sure you’ll be ok and make a full recovery.

Hi there not had this surgery

But wishing you to feel better soon x x

Becky a bi -lobectomy is quite extensive lung surgery and your body will take quite some time to adjust and recover, those temps and resting BP do not sound too dramatic but with a CT scan soon to be done and contact with your resiratory team hopefully you will receive confirmation that all is well and healing nicely. Those oxygen sats are superb by the way.

Best wishes
