I was diagnosed in 2010 with severe asthma and it became hard to control I would have steroids and antibiotics every 6 weeks so I became under the hospital and was started on Xolair (Omalizumab) injections which I have now been on for 5 years. I would not be without them they have made such a difference.
I also take a Relvar inhaler and salbutamol when I need it. Since being diagnosed I have had a tremor and sometimes it’s so bad that I struggle to do up my shoes and use a pen, so my consultant decided to put me on Aminophylline in the hope that this would reduce my salbutamol use and in turn stop the shaking.
I have been on the aminophylline now almost 3 months and have noticed I don’t use my salbutamol much; however my shakes are still there if not worse and I have become super super anxious. I’m not normally an anxious person but it’s come to the point that I am anxious on a plane or even train and have started having panic attacks.
Does anyone have any advice? Or experienced anything similar? I’m wondering whether the aminophylline has caused the increase in anxiety and whether I should stop the medication?
Thankyou!

Talk to a medical professional soon as possible regarding this. You have every right to be anxious. Try and calm it down and see if that helps you. But definitely go to a medical professional soon as possible regarding this matter. Good luck with this
Have you had your aminophylline levels checked recently? Tremors and anxiety can be ‘normal’ side effects of it, but can also indicate if levels are a little high... so worth getting them checked if it’s constant and progressively got to this level. If levels are fine you can ask about trying a different brand... when I was on theophylline I was fine with uniphyllin but had awful issues with slo-Phyllin despite no change in BT levels... (a wide range of side effects!)
Don’t just put up with it speak unto your GP/cons (whoever listens to you best 😉) and see if they’re willing to try something else/BT you
