Aminophylline

THEOPHYLLINE/AMINOPHYLLINE (Uniphyllin) The old fashioned ‘wonder drug’ that no doc likes prescribing cause it’s ‘tricky’ 😂. Levels too low (technically under 10, but docs tend to be happy if you’re over 8) you’re untherapeutic, levels too high (over 20) and you’re toxic.

They used to check my blood aminophylline level regularly when I attended cl8nics in person so obviously this is not currently being done. My breathing is so bad now that even getting from living room to toilet and back I need to recover.

I made an appointment with a pulmonologist, had a blood test, CT scan of my chest and the doctor said it's most likely asthma and prescribed me with Ventolin inhaler, a Budesonide/Formoterol inhaler and aminophylline pill. I took the Ventolin inhaler 3 times a day-1 puff.

Those on aminophylline/theophylline tablets, who find they keep waking at the same time of night, then having issues at the same time of day - go get your levels checked!

Has anyone had any negative side effects from these tablets I’m due to start taking them tomorrow a little worried on how they are going to make me feel. Thank you

I am on Adizem 240mg OD, Isosorbide Mononitrate 30mg TDS, Nicorandil 10mg BD, Aminophylline Hydrate 225mg OD, Imipramine Hydrochloride 25mg OD (New), Naproxen, GTN, unable to tolerate Ranolazine.

I started aminophylline tablets Wednesday and still Feeling very sick and flu like symptoms. Anyone know of anything that may help ease this. Also has aminophylline helped anyone Thanks x

I recently had me Aminophylline tablets increased and this was because it was low for a long time and I kept having flare ups. Throughout my check ups I noticed that my pulse rates (prior to the increase would be quiet high) like 121 or 113.

Hi all, I am set to increase my aminophylline tomorrow but this after my levels came out low repeatedly. So I had it done in October last year it was 9 and then had it rechecked this year and it’s at 6.

And I spent years being told I was non-compliant as my theophylline levels were always low and than I was accidentally given a gram of aminophylline in an hour and my levels only went to 19 and were back to 4 within 12 hours, so now I'm on silly high doses and actually have a therapeutic level The plan

Ideally I’d check myself in for a day or two on Aminophylline and avoid a two week admission. Saving major drama for my family and work... This just doesn’t seem to be an option. Does anyone have any thoughts about some kind of middle ground treatment?

"difficult asthma clinic" and may be able to help with my "brittle asthma" although it feels as though they are just passing the buck as my local hospital and consultant seem to be out of ideas what to do with me because I dont present they way the drs would expect and their ways of treating me I.e aminophylline

Hi, Has anyone been taking aminophylline for asthma. I would be interested in hearing your experience with this drug and any positive results.

Took many hours but thankfully they eventually they managed, after using huge amounts of aminophylline and something else, to save me.

So I’m now sat on my old friend IV aminophylline on respiratory HDU and have just had critical care mentioned to me as a legitimate possibility if I deteriorate again 😔 I’ve had critical care outreach review me a few times before but the possibility of going up to ITU hasn’t ever been brought up before

It’s just really annoying because at the moment I’m so unstable - I’ve had 6 admissions this year, most of which have been about a week long, I think I’ve needed oxygen for quite a while on all of them, I’ve had IV aminophylline for half of them and been on HDU once.
