IS IT OR IS IT NOT
As we are not medically trained, we can't diagnose what is wrong. But there definitely is something wrong. The best person to ask, is your doctor. Hopefully they might refer you to a Rheumatology Consultant.
Good to see a sensible reply, and not an unqualified person trying to diagnose from vague symptoms.
I went to the doctors a few years back with similar symptoms... apart from the calf... maybe you just need to stretch out yr calf muscle... there is lots of advice online for stretching muscles, but the neck pain is different... I had an mri scan and was told it was osteoarthritis, so I do neck stretches for that which really help. Ibuprofen gel soothes the pain as well, but I agree with a previous reply... talk to yr doctor.
Best wishes, Jo
I had the same as you but on my right side, for me the pain gradually got worse with the pain travelling down to be joint between upper and lower arm and then pins and needles in fingers after a few weeks. I was unable to sleep on either side etc, the cause was a trapped nerve in the neck with the pain in the shoulder and arms called referred pain. Upshot of it all was a neck x-ray which reported that i had significant degenerative change (arthritis) in the lower cervical (neck bones) which was causing the trapped nerve. Pains in the left shoulder and arm shouldn't be ignored get yourself down to the GP.
Hi Jamqu
This was the same for me mine was a suspected trapped nerve, until a recent MRI showed collapsed discs in my neck! I had a 4 hour op to have a metal cage fitted to prevent further crumbling? But a year on and the opposite side of my neck is crumbling now! But I won’t have further surgery. So I’m reply to WHIT??always get it checked xx
I'm a clinical therapist and have had frozen shoulder in the past and continue to treat others with the same condition. You might have the early signs of frozen shoulder, so it's best to get a diagnosis from your GP who will be able to help either with a referral to a physio or recommend a steroid injection. If you have the latter, it's best to find a GP who does the injection with the use of ultra sound to ensure that it goes in at the right point, otherwise it won't help at all. If you choose not to see your GP, and you have FS, it will progressively get more painful and worse case scenario is surgery. FS usually takes up to 18-24 mths to fully clear up. See your GP asap as you might just need to have sports massage and/acupuncture which can help a lot with pain and range of movement. If it's arthritis, then your GP can help with exercises and medication. Hope that helps.
Thanks.
Could well be you have damaged your neck and have trapped the nerve from your spine, this runs, neck, shoulder, upper arm, elbow, forearm , ending in the fingers. Go see the Doctor, good luck.
