Trying to find medication that works.

Hello, i am new. Cant seem to be able to find the right therapy or drugs to help by worry and anxiety! Been on trazodone a long time and diazapam for when i am overwhelmed. Also on 40mg of beta blocker and have been trying escitalopram 10mg for 6 weeks and now 20mg for 5 weeks with no benefit. They are talking about cognative analytical therapy and changing escitalopram. Am so tired and low self esteem from having bad patches every few weeks and being unreasonable and sobbing and not coping. Its embarrassing and hard on family and friends. Feel stupid i cant control myself. Wondering what next! When bad feel everyone hates me and doesnt want me.

I have felt the same lately, but sometimes we worry too much on our meds and that gives us more anxiety which makes us feel even worse....its a vicious circle.im sure the gp will find the right one for you.dont ever think that people hate you,its just that if they have never had panic/anxiety they really dont understand the horrible feelings we feel.i think they just feel so helpless and usless that there is nothing that they can do....it would be easier if you had a broken leg or something. you WILL come through this im sure as thousands of others have. wish you all the very very best. xxx

You are not alone with this illness and the docs are used to making changes to get the best for the patient. CAT is supposed to be good, I wish I was getting that rather than CBT.

Thank you i hope so. Phychiatrist has suggested it. Have had 2 lots of cbt. Helpful but not enough. Thank you pepedog too for kind words. Mostly i hate it when get overwhelmed and feel desperate and unreasonable. So embarrassing after with close friend.

Suggested i come off escitalopram which not working and try progabalin. Never heard of it and scared!

I know it gets more difficult having to change meds every time you have to do it, but I read somewhere that most people have to change anti-depressants several times before they find the right one. It's like shoes, you shouldn't expect that every size shoe will fit you and you shouldn't try to fit yourself into a shoe if it's not right for you. You'll find something that will work for you, it's just taking more time than it might for someone else. Stay positive. You will get through this.

Thank you soosh. Yes i find it very hard and disappointing. Really wanted latest one to work and reduce trazodone. You are right though. Got to keep trying.
