You could ask your doctor to refer you,
is the CBT at the doctors or at a mental health clinic?
I've noticed if you are managing, the doctors try and deal with you in house so to speak. I was lucky in a way that 30 years ago, I was refered straight away to experts.
The CBT is good, and will allow you to get all your worries in perspective, if you can get out at the moment, a good walk usually clears the head and the exercise is very beneficial, wishing you well.
Baylien is right, there should be a mental health team near you which you can be referred to otherwise just turn up at your nearest a & e and they will refer you to a specialist. That's what happened with me. I'm also stuck in limbo like you, waiting for cbt which could be up to 20 weeks while on a high dose of prozac is not the nicest experience you can have but at least it's something to look forward to.
If things get really hard try phoning samaritans, i've found them really helpful and comforting sometimes. Good luck x
Dear Angelfaced,
Your GP can refer you to other specialists, such as a psychiatrists, which is what he did in my case. I waited approximately 2 months for that appointment as far as i can remember.
I referred myself to a councellor. I went onto the internet and found a local councellor. I pay for it privately. MY GP has also given me information to arrange it through the NHS.
I was seen approximately within a week by the councellor.
all the very best,
Marcus xxx
AnxietyUK can also arrange CBT and counselling, I think usually within 2 weeks. This can be face to face or over the telephone. you do have to pay, although the amount is variable, according to your income.
