Been put on income support due to anxiety, the job centre said it wants me to go in for an interview about it, can’t really face them at the moment, just wish they’d leave me alone.

Hi

Are you getting sick notes from your GP , if you are I thought as long as you send them in they left you alone .....having said that I no they dont seem to leave anyone alone

Can you take someone with you ?

If not , remember you are not on your own , they are doing it to everyone , tell them how you are , describe a bad day , not a good day , whatever they ask always reply based on a bad day , dont say well sometimes & you should be in & out

Please just remember "Bad Days " only

Let us no how you go on

Love

Take a look at the article on our web site and challenge them if they insist on you going to them in person, also quote the recent new Act of Parliament the Mental Health (Discrimination) Act 2013.

Thanks for the info, I'm dreading getting asked to go for a medical from these people. I have handed in fit notes and filled out their stupid questionnaire clearly stating I cant leave my house and they will still expect me to attend a medical. Thanks again xxx

There are more you can do but don't know those.

hi i had one of those last year, i expalined that i am agoraphobic amoung many other things and we spoke over the phone for the last one i had. i have not had any since thank god. dont feel bullied into going if you feel you just can not take it, you have a mantal health problem and you can not be forced and all this rubbish about if you dont show up you get no help is just to scare you into going. x

Hi I am surprised you are on income support for anxiety! Normally you would be on ESA (employment and support allowance). Only if you were then put in the 'fit to work group' under ESA would you be asked to attend the Job centre. Can I ask why you are on Income support and not ESA please?

I'm not sure, I was on a help get into work thing, one week when I was having my usual appointment at the job centre I had a massive anxiety attack in this lady's office, and it was her who later phoned and said she doesn't think I'm fit for work and to get in touch with the doctor. We just filled in the forms they sent us and prayed for all the help we can get.

you need to contact the benifits department and tell them your on the wrong benifit, you should be on esa and you may need a docters note to dismiss you from all these interveiws you just are not ready to face. how is your cold???? x

What's the difference between them? My cold is still bad at the moment.

dont really know anything about income support but esa is employment support allowance. it was expained to me that it has been put in place for people who are not entitled to incapasity but are not well enough for work. it suggest you are not fit for work now but not forever. x

Ah ok, I've been put on Employment and support allowance which says that I can work, I'm appealing their decision because I simply can't work, I'd be useless to an employer.

and that totally how i feel, i wouldnt employ me right now. it know it doesnt really make sence but thats the daft way they wish to deal with it. do appeal and make sure you are supported my your docter. i appealed dispite an atos interview that stated a load of rubbish about me and i won.
