I think I'm having an anxiety attack, what... - Anxiety Support
I think I'm having an anxiety attack, what can I do?
Try breathing in a paper bag to control your breathing , sit & take deep breaths & slowly let it out again , see this as anxiety that is going to pass , go with it , feels rotton but it is going to pass , nothing bad will happen , its the fear that makes the attack feel worse
Wait till it passes & it will & no you are not alone

Just back from the doctors, he's given me some tablets, got to go back in on 20th Feb to see how I'm doing. He said it's Anxiety attack.
Hi Grit
I thought & so did you that this was what you were suffering from , nasty things they are
Hope this will give you some peace of mind now GP has told you put do come on here for support when you feel you need it
You didnt say what tablets you were given , I just say as some take a while to start working , & didnt want you to panic more if you dont get an instant relief
I am glad you got to see you GP & this is the first step to over coming how you feel , well done for getting there

HI Grit,
Try to STOPP...yes, I realise it's spelt incorrectly, and is sometimes it easier said than done, but taking time to STOPP can help. It's 5 steps that you can do anywhere, and I have found that a lot of my clients have found it particularly useful.
Step 1 - Stop
Step 2 - Take a breath
Step 3 - Observe - What am I thinking? What am I reacting to? What am I feeling?
Step 4 - Pull back - Put in some perspective. See the bigger picture. Is this fact or opinion? How would someone else see this? What would my best friend say to me?
Step 5 - Practise what works - Whatr's the best thing to do for me, for others, for this situation?
Give it try, and practise it. Like most things in life...it gets easier the more we do it.
Take care
