I started this med 7 weeks ago now, 20mg, and for a few weeks i just feel as if ive got a permanent lump in my throat, the sort of lump you get when you want to cry. What is it? Is it the anxiety fighting the meds, and will i have it permanent because it really annoys me :(

Hi, Im on them, and I get it wen I'm getting anxious. My mom is also on them but she's neva mentioned getting it. My aunty was on sumthing else and she went to the doctors and he put it down to nerves. Wen I'm really anxious I get it still, I had it the this wk for a few days and now its beginning to go. X

It will go soon enuf xxx

Years ago, doctors used to refer to this feeling as "globus hystericus", meaning a feeling of a globe or lump in the throat which had an emotional cause.

Mostly, when the symptoms are checked out by a doctor, no physical cause can be found, so it is attributed to being due to anxiety and tension. Simply knowing that can often help a person to be able to ignore it and it goes eventually.
