My doctors appointment

Just getting ready for my doctors appointment I'm feeling a little anxious 😟 because I know the doctor won't have time to deal with everything I need to talk to her about, I have my list of subjects but if she will still have time is something different. Please keep your fingers crossed 🤞

Maybe when you go in you could tell her that you have quite a few questions? Try prioritising them in the list so you make sure the most important ones ( I know they're all important) are dealt with first.

I hope all will be OK.

Deep breaths- you'll be fine.

You can request a double appointment if you have a few things you need to discuss...I've done it several times...something to know for future appointments 😉 hope everything goes well x

I hope your appointment goes well if you haven’t already been.

I have not long got back from docs appointment myself. I have been numerous times over the last year with lots of various symptoms. Lots of blood tests, which thankfully have come back ok 🤞. I have had treatment for breast cancer, which obviously hasn’t helped with my terrible health anxieties. She has prescribed me a low dose of anxiety/antidepressant medication.

I know exactly how you feel & I do hope you get some answers & don’t feel you are wasting their time, it is what they are there for.

Best wishes 🤗

When I was recovering from a stroke and was overwhelmed with anxiety and depression, my doctor was unsympathetic and of course never had time to listen to how bad I felt, while I was truly convinced I was in the last few weeks or months of my life and felt worse than at any time of my life. All he did was to hand out antidepressants and anti anxiety drugs which I am sure made me worse and had their own addictions.

That was almost five years ago and what turned me around was not the doctor who never had time or made things worse by just sending me off to more and more tests and scans, but a psychologist/psychiatrist who just talked to me for almost an hour every few weeks or a month. I was able to explain all my physical problems and how I felt and she was able to provide the necessary reassurance and do so from the vantage point of trained medical practitioner, as she was a qualified doctor in her own right.

It depends on your local health system but something like that might provide you with the lifeline you need as long as you are able to find a properly qualified individual and not some quack or alternative therapist. Even talking to somebody who is medically trained and is prepared to listen to all your concerns is the kind of medical therapy you probably need. Mine transformed my life and helped me to return to something much closer than normality.

Not what you're looking for?
