Anxiety upping dose

I was wondering if anyone can answer a question about side effects. I’ve been gradually upping my dose of Sertraline from 50mg to 100mg My anxiety if anything has worsened and I keep getting a really dry mouth and sweating bouts. Will this subside as my body gets used to the altered dose. Thank you to anyone who can shed some light on this 🙏.

Hello :-)

Dry mouth sweating , feeling more anxious are side effects of these meds and so lots of people will tend to give up but usually withing 3 months things start to improve

Did you get these side effects when you were taking 50 mg ?

If not then give it a few weeks and if things do not improve speak with your Doctor but hopefully things will settle down and you will soon feel the benefits from them :-)

Let us know how you get on :-) x

Thank you very much for responding to my post it really does mean a great deal to me. Hope you’re doing okay today. Yeah I think I’m just going to have to be patient and give it more time I’m only into the second week of being on 100mg a day. I was doing sort of okay on 50mg before but have had quite a relapse hence upping my dose. I’m also peri menopause which definitely isn’t helping my anxiety. I also read somewhere that Sertraline can lower your oestrogen great 😌. I did try HRT a few years ago but made me feel really bad. The doctor changed my meds and put me on patches at the Same time I was really suicidal and in a terrible way. So I’m trying upping my dosage of my Sertraline before going down the road of HRT again. Thank you once again 🙏🤗

Hello :-)

I feel for you going through the peri menopause alone that is enough to cope with I had to go through the menopause without any HRT and it was not good at all and seemed to go on for years but I think I am more or less stable now it does though I think have an effect on your anxiety as well so hopefully when you get back on the HRT that will make things better

I take medications for health reasons and I think with so many meds we can be on a lower dose and then when they up it we can feel the side effects but as I said hopefully give it a few weeks and they should start getting better if not let them know they may reduce it again for a little longer or look at something else but hopefully this will not be the case and you will settle down on them

Be Kind to yourself and things will improve :-) x

Hi Junkjournal1, Whenever a medication dosage is raised (esp twice the amount)

as "BeKind28" stated, we must give it time to come to full effect. Let your doctor

know in a couple weeks or so, how you are doing. Try not to focus on your symptoms.

Keep an open mind that as your body is adjusting to this new dose, it is quite normal

to experience physical symptoms. It's all a part in getting to what works best for you. :) xx

I had been on Zoloft many yrs ago and had dry mouth. That is why I had to go off of it. People react differently to meds, just sharing what happened with me.

I don't know if it will get better, stay the same or get worse for you, but if the benefit(s) of the medication outweigh the side effects, you could take that into consideration. Good luck! xx

it took about 8 weeks for my anxiety to settle down once i started, also each time you increase the dosage its like starting from scratch, you really just need to give it time and try to ride out the side effects which should subside as your body acclimatises.

Thank you for your response even though I increased really gradually I’m really hoping it is the increase that’s making me feel like this and will eventually level out. Hope you’re doing okay and thank you once again 🙏

Sorry…..I didn’t finish my post…..what I meant to say was the I have recently upped my dose of Mirtazapine from 30mg to 45mg & im still struggling quite a bit with the increase, I tried hard to stay on the 30, but it wasn’t working for me……I’m now almost 2 weeks in to the higher dose & hoping it will level out & I will get that good feeling again. I try telling myself every day is a new day & trust that thing will improve for u too x
