Anxiety symptoms

I have been dealing with anxiety symptoms for four years since having my son. They started out as textbook symptoms and were triggered by anything medical having to do with my son. Over the past few months i have been having buzzy behind my eyes and throughout my body, vertigo, weakness and tremors in muscles and a strange all over body sensation almost every morning around 8am. All my doctors are telling me that this is just my anxiety changing but I am having a really hard time accepting that. Has anyone had these symptoms or any advice on accepting these as new symptoms?

hello, I’m sorry to hear about your anxiety. I ha e been dealing with anxiety for around 38 years now. You mentioned what your Drs ha e told you. If this your regular doctor. I would just say this after all my years having anxiety I would agree with them. I went to counseling on top of my Dr and it did help. I think I want to understand the anxiety and that pinpoint something that triggered it because usually it’s a trigger you’re going to start dealing with it. But tell yourself this life brings anxiety as we grow emotionally. I get some of the same symptoms that you’re describing. I also get a feeling called deep personalization which your vision is like you’re in a dream and it was scary at first but I have noticed in my case it comes and goes but it usually triggered by a big change like yourself having a baby mine was when my father passed away then when I went through a divorce then I raised two kids on my own when they finally left home and now I am experiencing the symptoms again but I just retired after 47 years. The best I can offer is I think anxiety is very normal sometimes we just don’t have the coping tools that we need as we get older but you will gain them by any anxiety. Believe me hanging in there I’m am 100% sure you will be fine. Pick up book an anxiety or look on line like this web sight were on they can be very helpful. And if you need a counselor or something there’s nothing wrong with that they can give you a lot of insight on how to deal with it I seen one for 12 years and I’m a male. But you’ll get a handle on it. Good luck I hope some of the things I said helps you’re more than welcome to have any questions that I can help with.

Hi Teegsy, Your doctor is telling you the truth...Anxiety comes in all shapes and forms.

This is how Anxiety keeps control of us. Let me say that 8am in the morning is when we

feel the results of the higher levels of Cortisol and Adrenaline. It is meant to give us the

energy we need to start a new day. That as well as the fact in being dehydrated and low

blood sugar through the night.

Having to care for children (sick or well) is another added responsibility to the parent

already suffering with anxiety. We wonder if we will be able to handle taking care of

a child when we are struggling ourselves.

As for the "key" in accepting new symptoms and getting back on track, I found that

the book by Dr. Claire Weekes "Hope & Help for Your Nerves" gave me the foundation

that I needed which was "Acceptance". Accepting the symptoms for what they are,

not dangerous but a thought that has gone down the negative path. With these negative

thoughts comes physical sensations. Once we start to focus or believe they are dangerous,

Anxiety takes root.

Believe in your doctor, if unbearable, there is always medication and talk therapy to cut this

cycle of fear and symptoms. There's nothing I haven't been through myself but with time

and belief and acceptance, I have found control again. :) xx

I have a handle on mine pretty much now I’ve been dealing with it for 30 some years often on but I got a good idea how to handle it when it comes on so I do pretty good now. But I just hate seeing people that’s going through it especially if it’s within a year or so of having anxiety. It’s a long ride trying to figure out what’s going on and how to handle it and are you going to be OK. You will be OK I know that it’s just sucks to have to even go through it. But so many people do. I’m here if anytime I can answer anything just give me a message now reply. Take care

I am going through a bad bout with my anxiety. I think I've it had to some degree all my life but never affected me like it does now - maybe because I am getting older or an older things make me nervous and fearful - used to laugh about it but not too easy these days - i do try to cope as best and am seeing a therapist, but she hasn't given me the "magic solution" to this problem and I don't think any therapist - like my sister said she had to work through her anxiety and she is doing fine. I know how anyone feels that has this debilitating thing called anxiety!!! I also pray daily that some of my fears will subside and I read my Bible and I do love God with all my heart and I know He can heal us - sometimes it takes time I suppose.

Hello Teegsy

I can't add much to the most amazing replies you have had except to say their advice is spot on and so wonderful to read

Anxiety takes many forms but it is akways still anxiety. Your doctor seems convinced your symptoms are due to high anxiety and over sensitised nerves can certainly mimic almost all organic illnesses and they do sound like symptoms of anxiety to me. I agree with the advice of Agora and Cat33 that Claire Weekes' concise book " Hope and help for your nerves" will give you a full understanding of how anxiety disorder works and how we can extricate ourselves from it. Essential reading for everybody with anxiety disorder!
