Citalopram is a ssri and it would be best to taper off of it slowly to give you mind and body time to adjust rather than just quitting abruptly. The slower you taper the more easily your mind/body will adjust. You can get a pill cutter at your pharmacy to cut the pills into smaller doses to make it easier.

thank you. The dr told me stop it after 19 days which l did and that was a week ago. Still have the side effects now. Been advised to speak to dr and ask for another tablet as it wasn’t suiting me. Petrified of yet another tablet with side effects again. Have you ever been on sertraline?

From ny own experience and what I have read most doctors have no clue what it is really like to quit taking a med so I wouldn't rely on them for the best advice.

i was on sertraline for a number of years and it did nothing for me and I also tried a number of other meds. I finally did a psychopharmacological test which used my dna to determine which meds were best suited for me genetically. My test was from Genesight and paid for by my insurance. it found that none of the meds i had tried were right for me including the sertraline, I started on one it recommended, Pristq which is a different type of med and it has worked well for me. The test takes a lot of the guess work out of the process and remember we all react differently to meds.
