Hi all, I have been having some bad experiences with anxiety so the doctor prescribed me with 10mg of propranolol to be taking 2-3 times per day. He recommend me taking one to start off with in the evening as this is when my anxiety is at its worst.
My resting heart rate is between 55-60. It’s rarely above 60. Is it too dangerous for me to take this drug with a heart rate that low? Any advice/experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I’d check with your doc as soon as possible but I just took my tablet with my hr about same as yours. I read that even if it drop into high 40’s it’s ok.
That's been my heart rate forever (it's called sinus bradycardia, and is the resting heart rate of athletes - of which I am not one!), and I've been taking the same propranolol dose as you for 45 years without problems!
Hi propranolol is classed as a beta blocker and people also take it to slow their heart rate if they tachycardia or bradycardia to help… I was on them since 2011 and my dochas just weaned me off them because I have asthma and apparently it’s not recommended for people with asthma although saying that I didn’t have a problem with them to be honest I thought they was really good 👍 you will be fine on them they are genuine and they do help with anxiety
I take the propranolol er for fast heartbeat. Just make you check your heart rate as mine got down to low 40s a few times. I think I started with a higher dose and they slowly lowered my dose. I'm around the 55 to 60 range now. Even at the 40's range they didn't seem to concerned as I didn't even realize it was that low. Once or twice I was in high 30's is when they upped the dose.
