My anxiety has been really bad for about 6 weeks, I’m on medication for it but I feel like I’m not breathing properly and my throat feels tight. I feel like I’m gonna die

Hello :-)

I answered one of your posts and I know what happened to your Dad and now it is playing on your mind , health anxiety has crept in and is taking control and the more anxious we are the more we feel we cannot breath and the more we focus in on our breathing the worse it feels and then we are on a Merry go round we find we cannot get of and that sounds like what is happening to you

Go on Youtube , put in Breathing exercises for anxiety , lot's will come up , try them out and find which suits you and keep practising them it will help

Also put in Relaxation for Anxiety and Meditation for Anxiety again you will get lot's come up and have to listen to a few , you will know if you are making a connection though and if not then just move on to the next one till you find the one's that help you relax and you will

I found one on there and I play it every night and within 10 minutes I have fallen asleep even though I feel so anxious I think it will never work tonight but it does :-)

Hope you find some to help you :-) x

Hello! I don't know if you've ever heard of breathing into a brown paper bag (lunch bag size) to calm breathing down. I realize it may sound silly but I've used it twice and both times I regulated my breathing. Just a though. Please take care of you !

Hey,

It's quite natural to think the way you are thinking after the death of someone through illness, especially a parent.

My own parents died when I was a teenager and I became obsessed with death, the slightest thing and I was dying too. I was forever at the Drs complaining about something not right.

Give it time, your fears will ease.

Be good to yourself and give yourself every fighting chance against Covid.

All the best...

That's classic feeling of anxiety. First thing to understand is it can't kill you, it can't do anything to you really. It can only make you worry. Get your lungs tested. Check your oxygen levels with a good oximeter. Rule out real reasons for breathing issues and then start fighting back against that anxiety. That bastard is damn liar and a bully. Fight back! Do breathing exercises for increasing lung capacity, you can find the technique if you google. I've had this exact problem last few months. Now I'm so much better just because I stopped believing that the problems were real.

This breathing problem can also be caused by bloating and digestive issues. So look into that too. For me it's digestive problems. If I stay calm and just breathe deeply few times, it starts getting better. And I also have to make sure I eat foods that don't cause too much bloating and gas or acid reflux.

HiI have had similar problems which I am pretty well over now.

It did take quite a long while to get over it however.

The key is really knowing that the breathing issues are just caused by anxiety and to really not worry about it at all.

Easier said than done.

You probably should be checked out by your GP just to make sure this is the case however.

All the best

Kim
