Hi I am on day 4 of citalopram and have all the side effects of increased anxiety, etc but my worst side effect is agitation/restlessness! Did anyone else experience this on citalopram and did it go away??...if so how long did it take? I’m only on 20mg but much more restless than before I took the med. please help!

have not been on this medication, but when i started lexapro, 10mg, i had some side effects similiar to yours. had for about 3 weeks, but kept reading comments from folks encouraging me to ride it out! i did, and sooo glad! feel amazing!!! going on 6 months and I'm not looking back! get plenty of exercise and try and keep your mind occupied with music or whatever distracts you. hang in there and best of luck!!!

Thank you for replying! I tried lexapro but this was even worse with side effects for me which is why I switched to citalopram...I was on 5mgs for 2 weeks and 10mgs for 2 weeks and got interstitial cystitis so had to give up as it’s a pretty serious problem...I will stuck with it and hope it goes away. Did you get twitching at all by any chance? Xx

did not get twitching, did at times have a increase in anxiety, but i would double my exercise, and in time improved. try and ride out the side affects as much as you can. i know we all are different but it did work for me. good luck.

What a story I could tell😂....anxiety ( not constant but spells) from a young age.Underlying depression came along with this😮.....a sensitive perfectionist who thought life should always go my way...

Even when given citalopram, I was off and on...believing I could cure this feeling myself👎...when I finally took them regularly slowly but surely I began to feel relaxed and "normal"😂.

Side effects only for first few weeks...loose bowels😮....agitation...technicolour dreams😂😂....

I started on 20 mg like you...after ten years of " normality"..I now take 10mg

Whether I need it or not now I'll never know...but who cares I,m balanced and happy....

Helpful reading...Eckhart Tolle

Helpful viewing.... Sadguru on you tube..

And my (anon😮)..Facebook page.."seeing through different eyes"

All the best🙏

Oh dear...I bloody hope it helps as I need a way out as been poorly for 19 months after being super well for 14 years. Unfortunately I’m not able to get back on the old med that kept me well. Are you taking anything now that helps? X

10 mg is a low dose🤔....consider speaking to doctor to increase dose....and give it time🙏

Do the right thing and the right things will happen😊....Your not going nuts, an overactive mind will make up stories😊....they will diminish when your mind slows👍

Thank you. It is making me feel very depressed at the minute 10 days at 10mgs and 9 days at 20.....I’m praying for a positive result as I can’t really function and completely panicky and agoraphobic xx thank you for all your time xxxx
