Citalopram and agitation

Hi I am on day 4 of citalopram and have all the side effects of increased anxiety, etc but my worst side effect is agitation/restlessness! Did anyone else experience this on citalopram and did it go away??...if so how long did it take? I’m only on 20mg but much more restless than before I took the med. please help!

Hi Vicss, yes I can remember feeling the same, even though it was 9 years ago when I started taking citalopram and 6 years ago when I stopped them, it does seem as though they will never work and it can take a few weeks but all of a sudden you realize that you re starting to feel better and then it is really good, stick with it, I know it won't be easy but it is worth it and good luck.

Oh Chrissy46 thank you so much for replying!! I literally feel so uncomfortable sitting and so uncomfortable standing and feel like I need to pace around! I can’t settle on anything. I have pins and needles in my arms and legs all the time, very uncomfortable. I also get twitches in my arms, legs and face and feel tired but really wired and spaced out! I’m only on 10mgs - dr thinks I might have serotonin syndrome and that they don’t agree with me...but if other people are experiencing the same thing then I’m willing to try longer....I’m so desperate as I’ve had severe anxiety and panic and now depression for 19 months, it’s been hellish. Thank you so much for taking the time fo reply ❤️ Xxxx would be great if you could answer my other little bits?? Anyone else???
