Azithromycin

I just took the 1g powder form of Azythromicin and I stupidly decided to google it and there was a warning that it can lead you to have fatal arrhythmias. I have the worst heart anxiety already so this is making me think that i’m going to drop dead any minute now. Some people were also saying it gave them tachy or bradycardia and that it gave them more palpitations. I already suffer from bad palpitations. I’m so on edge right now waiting for my death. It says people with known arrhythmias should be alert and i’m beyond anxious. People have died up to 30 days after this

I only took one pack of 500mg and I don’t take any other medications and I have also not been diagnosed with any heart conditions.

Has anyone taken this? What side effects have you guys had??? Help!!!

Hi Guzman, I'm assuming you received this prescription from your doctor who knows your medical history. Azithromycin is a drug used for bacterial infections (not viral). You are not

going to die from this medication. Take it according to your doctor's orders and whatever he is treating you for. If anything, Azithro will keep any bacteria from attacking the heart, a protection in a way.

Make sure you stay hydrated, take it with food unless it says different and it wouldn't be a

bad idea to eat yogurt in order to counteract any yeast infections that can arise from antibiotics.

I have taken this before when I had pneumonia years ago. Once you start the dose, do no stop short of the full prescription unless your doctor tells you to. To do so, can cause the

infection to start up again. Always call your doctor if you have any questions...

I received it from a new doctor that didnt ask about my heart or other general medical issues. The posts I saw said a lot of people died from heart arrythmias and cardiac arrest that’s why i’m panicking. You never know if you will be the one who ends up with this side effect. I took it with food and it was a single dose of the powder but i’m still terrified!! Did you have any side effects?

That’s scary!! Hope you feel better soon. The FDA warned of these side effects especially for people with heart conditions and who are taking meds for these conditions. I’m not sure how much of a probablility it is if you don’t have anything but still scary! I’m panicking because you can get it up to 6 months after you took the meds. Freaking out

Google is a harsh way to find out side effects . There are sooo many things they say but they are just other people's symptoms. I know I've done it myself and then waited for something to happen and it didn't. Your body tries to find ways to adjust to any treatment or meds. Just don't abuse the drugs because they can be fatal.

I feel the same way. I’m on that med right now and I read online everything and now I’m so nervous about it. How you feeling now from being on it? I know the post is old.

I actually have not died yet. Still waiting on the 3 months left to make sure I dont get that fatal arrythmia.

I didn’t have any more side effects other than horrible diarrhea and nausea. Hope all is well!!

Hi Guzman13, it's a good antibiotic and can work wonders.

I always make sure when I'm on any kind of antibiotic that I don't take it on

an empty stomach as well as making sure I have Yogurt. Make sure you hydrate as well.

I've never had any stomach issues with that medication.

Are you feeling better physically? Don't waste the next 3 months of the approaching

new year waiting for something that is not going to happen.
