Have been on Mirtazapine 15 mg for about 4 years and apart from a bit of weight gain, it keeps me on an even keel. When I put in a repeat prescription from my GP surgery, they said I wasn't due for another one yet. For some reason I have lost my 2nd pack at home and can't find it anywhere. I don't want to do cold turkey and I am not ready to come off them completely. What do I do now ? I think this is very unfair. Question is - who would supply me with it ? No chance of going on line because you could have a pill that would do you harm. I am 78 years old and don't need this unfairness.

Help please !
Hi,
I am not sure of rules in your country / state around pharmacy meds. A few ideas ...
1. If you still have the other script, is it possible to use a different pharmacy to dispense it?
2. You may also ask your doctor to contact the pharmacy on your behalf if you have been a safe user until now and provide a one off script with no repeats
3. Is it also possible to have 7 day supplies dispensed instead of the whole amount (pharmacist thinking you might be unsafe & take overdose)
4. Would you be able to make a declaration to put on the file record that you have lost the packet?
5. Going online to a reputable bricks and mortar pharmacy rather than online only would work
6. If taking mirtazapine for sleeping aid, try some over the counter tablets recommended by pharmacist (don't go cold turkey if you can help it by taking mirtazapine every 3rd day with something else between)
I hope you can work this out 👍
Hi blackcat ! Thanks so much for your advice. Have just got in from the chemist and they had just received the meds as I got there. I live in the U.K. This isn't the first time repeats have been queried. It's not as if we take meds just for the sake of it and stopping anti depressants abruptly is not advised. At least I can now breathe for another month and hope I don't have this problem again. Again thanks for your help
Hi I am in the UK and I have lost meds before or run short but the pharmacist has always given me more. This was until the rules changed and I was told to ring 111. They can authorise more for the same day.
I always build up a small extra supply by skipping the odd tablet (depends what you are taking so be careful) so this doesn't happen.
