Yawning
This has happened to me so many times I've lost count. Its absolutely awful and everytime i start thinking and truly believing that I have lung cancer it honestly is your anxiety that's making it happen and I promise you it'll pass.
Unfortunately there's nothing that'll make you feel any better until it stops, but please know this is your anxiety and many others experience this (I know because of my research as I desperately needed reassurance when experiencing this)
I have no doubt that it'll happen to me again and I'll freak out as I always do! It's so hard but try not to force a yawn. Try and relax and take nice deep breaths and try to breath from your stomach, not your chest.
IT WILL PASS.
Take care, Helen.
Thank you so much Helen !!! It absolutely just freaks me out ... like why can’t I just take a deep breath yawn ..... it’s awful
I try and try and it’s like I get these half yawns .. I appreciate your response
happens to me too
I think cos u r trying so hard I have felt that way before
KateS10, You are trying too hard to do this, and when you can't seem to achieve that "total fullness" type feeling, you try again, but harder. It is just a nervous cycle, and when in anxiety mode, it doesn't take long to fuel those embers of anxiety. I know a lot of times it's easier said than done to try to relax, but, it's so true.
I get this all the time, I actually went to the drs about it and then went for an X-ray etc. My lungs are completely normal. I spoke to a mental health specialist who said she had heard of this before, she explained when you suffer with anxiety you try to breath in a lot to get as much air as possible, whilst your doing this your forgetting to breath out your carbon dioxide. Since learning this I have focused on breathing out after i have breathed in. And it actually helps a lot. Hang in there. It will be ok. Hope this helps x
This happens to me a lot of time. Sometimes in meetings as well. Feel embarrassed when i have it in front of so many people. But that's part of anxiety, it passes by. Don't worry about it....
