Hi -I’m 54 yr old female and have been suffering with lightheadedness for many years now - I get this feeling in my head like the feeling you get when you’re in a lift and I feel like my balance is off all the time. I have to lean on walls or anything else I can find when I’m out and walking against crowds is a nightmare. These feelings are worse when I’m away from home but I do get them at home also -my head feels tight and It’s having an impact on everything I do. I’ve had brain scan and seen ENT etc and they’ve said it’s vestibular migraines but I don’t feel this is what it is.Im not keen on taking medication so I was just looking to see if anybody else has these symptoms and what if any advice there is to beat this please -I need my life back.

Elevator feeling!
Hi poor you as this sounds horrible. I had never heard of it but googled and came up with this link. It does sound though that meds are an integral part of treatment. x
Hi, I can relate to what you have. I've been experiencing the same symptoms for 4 years now going on 5. I've seen so many drs and have had so many tests done. Thankfully they are all negative but still frustrating because they cannot find the cause of these symptoms. Unfortunatly I don't have a solution for you but just wanted to reach out and let you know you are not alone. I'm scheduled to see a neurologist for a second opinion in February as well as balance therapy. I'll definitely keep you informed as how it goes and if it helped me, if it does hopefully it can help you too. Fingers cross because like you said I need my life back too!
Hugs
Thanks for the reply -although I’m sorry you’re dealing with this also it is good to speak to someone who is experiencing the same feelings. When I try to explain to family and friends how I’m feeling -and it’s practically every day -they don’t understand and say just forget about it put it to the back of your mind and you’ll be ok -but as you know it doesn’t work like that.I seen a post on here from a while back and they said the symptoms sounded like we where suffering from agoraphobia which again I can relate to as when I go out anywhere I have to be near my car -if I get too far away from it I start panicking, feel really off balance, head tightens, etc but all these feelings virtually disappear when I get back in car-it’s so frustrating.Hopefully we can help each other through this-maybe give each other tips on how to beat this and I do sincerely hope all your tests are clear and you get some answers from the neurologist. Good Luck and keep me informed how you get on -big hugs lovely.
Hi Sandra,
This first happened to me when I was 17 and travelled to Canada with my Nan.
I am 60 now and have had it happen all through my life. Like you, I have had MRI etc and all ok.
I recall being nervous in Canada all those years ago my first trip away. But also I get them when I'm out sometimes and have to steady myself for a minute. I think it's just nerves, I mean I've had it a long time and always been ok, it's just a little frightening now. I think it's a classic anxiety symptom, I've heard it called floor dropping...
I wouldn't worry.... I've been OK for a while and babysitting grandchildren this weekend and had an episode last night, so I think it's anxiety definitely.
Take care x
Hi -thanks for reply -I started suffering with anxiety just before I left school but my symptoms then was the feeling I couldn’t breathe but once I managed to control that it came back in a different form -dizziness -but you are right after all this time nothing bad has happened to us it’s just a really uncomfortable feeling so we should concentrate on that fact and hopefully these episodes become less and less -take care lovely x
And you... Its a strange thing that no one especially doctors can explain.
Just a link I found

We'll be ok ❤️
Yes yes. And yea I am 57 and have this it's like the feeling when you get off the elevator and feel like your moving. I have had it checked MRI also saw Ent I know it's my anxiety. I so understand you. My suggestion is try to reassure yourself that it's nothing you have been checked. That helps me
