5mg of citalopram per day effective?

Has anyone gotten positive results on just 5mg of citalopram a day? My doctor started me at this dose and, not surprisingly, my anxiety has either not improved or gotten worse. I’ve been taking it for ten days. My doctor’s rationale was starting at a low dose would minimize side effects.

I started buspirone in september. I remember the beginning obsessing over every "symptom" wondering if it was working, not working or causing side effects. Best tip is let it take its course. And try to be patient. I know its hard, but it takes time to kick in and do its job. And you can get in touch with the doctor if anything causes worry.

I tried this meds when I was younger I dont remember the low dose having much affect on me.

My anxiety is so bad right now its very difficult to be patient. But anyway, you mentioned you started buspirone inSeptember. I’ve heard that only helps about 50% of the people who take it and can have nasty side effects. Has it been helpful for you in any way?

My therapist and I decided to stay on a low dose for now. I dont notice much changes. My insomnia is gone. Which is a big help to my life.. but I also do a lot to help myself and learned ways I can cope. So for me I dont know if its the meds or my positive life style choices.

My anxiety took over me my whole life. And then it has gotten so much better. There is so much hope for people like us. Never give up. Try not to worry, you will be okay. I hope the meds start to help you. Take care.

Just hang in there, everything will be ok. Just let the meds work for a nother week or two. Ur symptoms will gradually disappear, though not totally eliminated. I am on escitalopram 10mg and the meds kicks in almost a month after taking it. So stay positive, Godbless.
