side effects from citalopram: Hi all... My... - Anxiety Support
side effects from citalopram
Really difficult to say Lisa as there are quite a lot of different side effects and people don't all get the same ones.
Did you get headaches etc before the dose increased or did they start suddenly when the dose increased.
You have only just started the increased dose really so it will take up to 6 weeks at least to settle .........
Another thing you can do is ask a pharmacist about citalopram side effects. They are medication experts and actually learn a lot more about it than doctors but can't prescribe.
They may well tell you to speak to your GP as well but they may be willing to have a little chat to you about the side effects.
Hope your ok today Lisa apart from that ......take care PL
Hi Pennylayne.... Yes its only started since i had my dose incresed i think its a combination of stopping all caffeine aswell... Im due to see my GP on friday will keep you posted thanks Lisa
Yes I think you will certainly notice the effects of stopping caffeine.........do you find that helps? PL
Hi,

Hi pennlayne.... Yes it has made a difference especially at night,i now drink decaffinated tea its not the same but i have got use to it...Lisa x
Hello again warkie..... ive been taking them for around 5 weeks,10mg to begin with and last week ive bee on 20mg.. i agree the side effects are not nice but i have stuck with them as i know they take a while to start to make you feel better..... Lisa x
I started on 20mg and them my GP upped the dose to 40mg. I couldn't sleep for days, I felt faint, had no energy and felt horrible. My panic attacks happened more often than usual too. I was told that I would feel side effects for 2 weeks and then it would get better. I went back to 20mg after 3 weeks as I couldn't work because of the side effects. The right dosage is very important. If i were you, I would go back to 10mg if the side effects don't get better soon. Take care x
Hey LB, its stopping the caffeine for sure gives you real bad headaches, every one i have spoken to says the same thing. forget the citalopram side effects they will pass after about two weeks, i took 60mg for 8 years, i know, a long time right, and in the end they stopped being allowed to prescribe 60mg, 40mg is the max now, i know we are all different, but you will be fine with this drug it isnt addictive at all, i stopped over a two week period and switched to sertraline because they can prescibe higher doses of this, im on 150mg at night and 50mg in the morning, i take a lot of other meds to though, junkie vv best wishes VV x
