Tonsilitis?

I finally built up the courage to go to the doctor, with a few strange and worsening symptoms. I have pain when lightly touching my arms, legs and chest after long or stressful days, extreme tiredness hitting at midday and I have to come home and sleep, a cough which feels like it's getting worse and comes on with deep breathing, and extreme cold sensitivity, to the point where I ache after shivering so much. I've been going through a particularly stressful period so I'm not sure if it's related to the stress. Anyway, the doctor diagnosed me with tonsilitis. I'm not sure about this, I had it about 3 times when I was a child, and it did not feel like this. I have no sore throat and my tonsils look as they always do, also no swollen glands or high temperature. I've been prescribed penicillin for it. It just doesn't fit right with me, I don't know what to do. Any ideas? Has anyone has any similar symptoms? Thanks
