sertraline to mirtazapine crosstaper plus extras any help would be greatful.

Hi does anyone know how long it takes for the fully effects of sertraline to kick also im doing a cross taper from mirtazapine which i have been on for five years.

Any help would be really grateful many thanks.

From my experience it's a little difficult to judge. I had a really bad experience with Fluoxetine mainly as it was prescribed without any form of monitoring. Having weaned off of that drug I was put on Sertraline firstly at 50mg once a day with 5mg of diazepam once a day to help with the anxiety. This time monitored by a consultant.

From such a deep trough I guess it was 3/4 weeks before I saw improvement and have stuck with Sertraline and Diazepam for the past 20 years+ with some variances.

I only ever went as high as 100mg and at times throttled back to 25mg but always with the Diazepam as a support act which although frowned upon from some quarters has been of real help to me.

As regards to efficacy I can only comment that on the odd occasion I've 'come off' Sertraline my OCD ( intrusive thoughts) has crept back in.
