Just need to write. Struggling.

It's been 10 months since my stint in hospital due to serious mental health. I managed to reduce alcohol and find a new job.

The 5 days on 1 off, 11 on and 2 off is too much for me. I've begun to drink every night again, atm half bottle of wine, but if I don't stop I know it'll be more again. It's the willpower I need.

Currently switching jobs to be fit my family and me. The stress is unreal. 4 weeks notice.

I'm sat on a bench writing this with disguised alcohol. Ffs. I'm trying to be strong, but it's hard.

Wow those sound like killer hours to me so no wonder you are so stressed and tired. I hope your new job is an improvement for you. x

If your job is not working for you and it is making you ill again.

Also if the job is counterproductive to family life you have only one decision to make and that is a no brainer, your family comes first.

The best way forward is look for another job, although stay in the job you dislike. It is easier that you look for a new job, when you are still in another job.

You find a replacement, your old position will not see you for dust

Thank you for the replies. I've realised I'm slipping and got fast help today from my gp. I have to keep going as I've done before and I know I'll feel better soon.

11 on 2 off is hectic and no wonder you slipped up hopefully the new job gives you a better life balance and spend more time with your family.use your will power and try leave the alcohol behind.good luck when you start your new job.

Good for you for reaching out and asking for help. That's not easy but it's very brave and healthy. Your situation sure sounds stressful and no wonder you found yourself slipping. It's so understandable. Have you thought of treating your body and soul to an alcohol free lifestyle? It's so incredibly addictive and makes everything worse when you think about it. I found this person's story and approach really helpful; she is very sympathetic and helps one realize how powerful the cultural forces are that lead us to a place where we rely on a toxic substance thinking it's necessary for our happiness. This Naked Mind: Control Alcohol:... amazon.com/dp/0996715002?re.... Best of luck to you and keep reaching out with vulnerability and showing kindness to yourself.
