How can I stop saying sorry constantly?

Hi I'm new here on this platform and I want to know how people stop apologizing? I always apologize for anything and everything, even though it may not be my fault. I would appreciate it if someone could give advice as to deal with this.

Hi again AnxietyBear. I too am guilty of always saying "I'm sorry" beyond the point

of showing compassion for someone. We are the "People Pleasers" who want to

save everyone, who wants to be the person everyone likes. However, after a while

it gets annoying as well as condensing to others that you are always apologizing when

an apology is not needed. It has become a part of our vocabulary just like those

who say "hmmm" a lot between sentences. I've had people in my life tell me to

"stop saying I'm sorry" or "you never have to be sorry". I've learned from that in

finding other words that are thoughtful and caring. Variety is the spice of life and

that includes how we speak our feelings and thoughts to others. Find other words

you can use in conveying your message to someone. People pleasers are high in

number in the anxiety forum. We feel too much and tend to wear our hearts

on our sleeve. Starting today AnxietyBear, find other ways you can communicate

that doesn't put you down or make the other person feel obligated to you. :) xx

I'll try as well. "I'm sorry" oops I mean I care. :)

I have been so guilty of this myself. I stopped being an active part of conversations for a while so that I could take time to really think about my words before i spoke in a conversation. I wasn't awkward I simply just waited until asked a question or had thoroughly thought about the input I had to give. Occasionally, I would slip and just blurt out, "Sorry!" but not as often. It is interesting when you really evaluate the weight of your words this way. "Sorry" isn't the only thing I changed and maybe you will come to the same reality. Big hugs - you got this!!

APOR2017, isn't it crazy how easily that word "I'm Sorry" comes out of our mouths. There

are so many people who couldn't say that if they tried. Like you, I am very aware and working on it. Make it a great day. Be well :) xx
