Sertraline side effects-has this happened to you

Hi all

I've been on sertraline for 10 days now for health anxiety and depression. Only problem is since I've been on them I've had diarrhea, stomach pains, nausea, ache, sweaty hands and feet.

My anxiety was worse the first few days and i hardly eat. Tonight I've had a roast dinner and now feel sick to my stomach and my stomach is grumbling something rotten.

Are these all side effects of sertraline?

My health anxiety is going a wall not knowing if its the antidepressants or me being ill.

Is this normal and will it stop.

I had been on escitalopram(another antidepressant) for my smoking for 7 months. Quit end of feb cold turkey and am still experiencing mild withdrawals. Almost all antidepressants cause side effects in the first few weeks of start and when you quit. So its always better to wean into and out of them gradually.

The stomach issues you're describing are likely from the medication. The med increases serotonin availability, and most of your serotonin is created in your gut - thus, stomach weirdness. It does pass.

No side effects but it took 14 days to start to work. But then I suppose everyone is different. You could see your doc as there are other medications. Citalopram? Take care x
