Anxiety and ocd

Hi how's is everyone doing? Good I hope, i have harm ocd as well as very bad anxiety is anyone else have this? I feel so alone. The fear of acting on thoughts has me very upset and bad! The "what ifs" make me very upset as well can someone please help?

You will never act on your OCD thoughts, the reason it scares you so badly is because you would never do any of the things that your OCD tells you. I have suffered with OCD since I was a teen and I am now 60 years old. I have had really scary thoughts but have never acted on any of them. The OCD makes your thoughts sticky and hard to let go of. It has been proven that everyone has intrusive thoughts but they don't scare them because they realize they are meaningless and they let them go where we have a thought that scares us and then it loops round and round in our minds. You are a good person and the reason these thoughts bother you is because you would NEVER do any of them.

Yes it does! But just remember it is all lies that our OCD tells us and is trying to scare. Like I said earlier, everyone has these same thoughts at one time or another but they just dismiss them as being stupid but those of us with OCD are so frightened by them that they keep looping around and around in our minds. I wish I could tell you they go away but I still have them also. If my anxiety is low, I can sort of dismiss them but when the anxiety is high they still loop and scare me. There are a lot of good videos on you tube that discuss this. A therapist once told me that we have a faulty gate in our brains that won't let these thoughts leave us, where as a normal person can easily dismiss them as just a thought that means absolutely nothing. I read we have something like 70,000 different thoughts daily and we should treat them like passing clouds in the sky. Our thoughts do not define who we are but rather our actions. I will pray for you my friend, I would not wish this on my worst enemy. No one could possibly understand what we go through unless they have suffered with it.
