Hi All do we really know why our dr insists we should continue anxiety/ads 6 months or more?
Meds for months: Hi All do we really know... - Anxiety Support
Meds for months
This is a great question to ask your doctor.
Only your doc knows why they want you to do something.
One dr told me to take my anxiety meds till i finish the 30 pack, as alot of people feel their anxiety is under control, then seeing my own gp for a follow up she strongly urged me to continue them at least 6mths to avoid relapse in anxiety! I am taking sertraline since early Jan this yr and def feel alot better!
Because they can take up to 2 months to reach their full potential. And then you need to be in that place for a while to ensure the effect is long-lasting. It usually takes 6-9 months of continued use untill your doctor advises you to lower the dosage and eventually quit meds. After that period, the possibility of anxiety returning is minimal. This is all theory and I’m sure there are exeptions in practice so it’s best to work with your doctor and follow instructions. I’m also on medications since mid January this year so on my beggining and already feeling better
It just seems a long process to feel the benefits and It still is not guaranteed to eliminate anxiety completely. I am really keen on trying medicinal marijuana oil, i have heard the oil works to treat anxiety as well as all other medical issues- does anyone know how to get this?
