Been prescribed 10mg of CITALOPRAM after feeling like I just couldn't cope anymore. I cried for a week before starting them plus I suffer from anxiety so I'm hoping I can get my life back after trying to cope for 12 months without any help. Just wondering how much they've helped other people ??

I’ve taken these for several years I’m currently on 10mg and I personally feel they help me a lot I’ve come off them several times but when my anxiety is high I take them it takes a couple of weeks to get back into the system properly but then I feel more level and in control again ( something to do with an imbalance of a hormone in the brain and these work for me ( not for everyone though)

I’ve been on 20mg before and even as little as 5mg ( I believe this amount is obsolete now) . So give them a try , take at the same time every day and give them at least 2-3weeks . You may feel slighted worse before you feel any benefit. All the best.

Thanks for your reply. I'm on day 9 and I have, if only 1% each day, started to feel better. Obviously I won't know if it's the tablets or I would have felt better on my own but I wasn't willing to try on my own anymore, I've never cried and felt like I couldn't carry on like I did last week but I'm hoping more than anything they help my anxiety. Just one more question, do they get rid of your anxiety completely or just make it easier to live with ??

Mostly yes and it definitely is easier to live with. Having said that there are times when I still get panicked.. like if I’m ill, having work or family issues but I cope better than I do when not on the medication. I’m more able to say oh well it’ll pass . Hopefully you’ll start to feel easier over the next few weeks but it also look into other self help strategies of how to cope with fear and panic also look at what stresses you and ways to elevate it ..

I'm on the same dosage, and they have worked miracles for me. If you can tolerate the minor side effects in the first few weeks, you should feel much more at peace after 4 weeks.

Thankyou, hopefully they will work for me, on day 10 and thankfully the crying and feeling like I could not cope has more or less gone. I took the dogs for a walk last night and my anxiety was really bad but as we do I battled through it. I ought to stop analysing it all and just go with the flow but I'm just so desperate for the anxiety to go
