As I often say, anxiety about using anti-anxiety meds is just another symptom of anxiety.

I think the symptoms you attribute to taking these meds is in fact caused by your anxiety about taking them.

Nobody likes relying on meds to feel normal but if your anxiety is overwhelming and you've a job to hold down and/or family to support then it's right to take the relief that medications bring.

But meds are unlikely to cure your anxiety and depression, when you stop taking the meds the beast is usually still there waiting.

Remember it takes 3 weeks+ before most anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds are fully effective.

Depression can be caused by depletion of your nervous energy due to anxiety. The two go hand in hand. When the anxiety is cured the depression too will resolve.

You can recover from anxiety disorder without meds but it takes practice snd persistance. First you have to ask yourself what caused your anxiety, what caused your nervous system to become over sensitised? Was it over-work, worry, stress, toxic relationship, grief, guilt or disappointment? Whatever, you must be ruthless in neutralising that cause because it has made you ill, it's that important. So be ruthless in protecting yourself and your interests.

Second, you have to stop fighting your anxiety for the time being as fighting causes more tension and stress and makes matters worse.

Instead you must face anxiety and pass through it to recover. Just accept it calmly and with the minimum of fear. After all, all those unpleasant symptoms and strange feelings are only fake and fraudulent. They show up as nothing on scans and blood tests so they can't harm you. Why be afraid of a nothing?

When you utterly accept your symptoms you stop flooding your nervous systen with fear hormones. This gives your nerves a chance to recover.

So acceptance is the key to recovery, acceptance for the moment that is.

You will hear more of these and other methods for recovery on this forum. You will also meet people who will support you and give you the benefit of their experience and knowledge.

What medications have you tried? Have you sought any sort of therapy?

Have you had your vitamin B9 and B12 levels tested - deficiencies in both can cause depression and anxiety. SSRIs - the most commonly prescribed class of antidepressants can deplete B9 (folate) levels.

Your obviously taking the wrong kind of medications? keep looking till you find the right one. I found one that works thenthe doctor for no good reason refused to refill it till she sees me. Tomorrow we're having a showdown about this. Doctors have said you don't just take someone cold Turkey, you wean them off. She does have IAM in control type attitude. I just changed to her, looks like I'll be looking for someone else. After this seems that she doesn't have my best interest.

Not what you're looking for?
