Not at all insane, what you describe is a well known symptom of anxiety disorder called depersonalisation/derealisation. Your mind has detected your anxiety and seeks to 'withdraw' you from the anxious situation by making you feel 'like you're not there'.
I had it 40 years ago and because it hadn't been identified as a symptom of anxiety I didn't take much notice of it and it passed.
When your anxiety disorder is resolved this symptom of anxiety will go. To help it on its way you should utterly accept it for the time being. In so doing you do not generate fear hormone which mauntains your nerves in a sensitive state and not to obsess or stress about it. Just accept it for the moment.
It will pass in time- accept ut and you help it on its way.
