It’s nothing terrible or irritating. But I just want to make sure that I’m okay because I’ve been under a lot of stress/anxiety and I want to stop scaring myself by looking things up. Would love some feedback.

Tingling neck for a few seconds....every now and then
Hi Robby36, My neck can get tingly when the muscles really get overworked whether it's stress or doing Spring Cleaning. It usually responds to heat which will help relax the muscles and bring forth more blood to that area. It's nothing bad but annoying. I usually throw a bath towel into the dryer for 15 min and then wrap it around my neck and shoulders. Ahhh feels so good and does the trick. Feel better
I’m going to try that tip out. Thank you very much. You seem to know a good amount about anxiety so I hope you don’t mind if I ask you a couple of questions: when it comes to head sensations, I usually been having an odd feeling behind the head. I guess it would be pressure and a bit of stuffy ears. But is it possible to feel as if your head is empty? Not light-headed but just....it’s hard to describe but almost like maybe the odd head sensations can just make your head feel light? And I’m guessing I feel the tingling every now and then behind my neck since I have the head sensations in the back.
Robby36, I may seem to know a good amount about anxiety only because it causes from experience in having lived with it so long. This is the same for the other responses on the forum. We live and we learn in what we go through in life. Medications, therapy and other modalities that have been tried throughout the years has finally left me in a position where I understand my body's responses to my stresses. In understanding the mind/body connection, it makes it less frightening.
It is very possible to feel empty headed, a fog, not quite all there feeling when extremely tense. Our bodies from the top of our head to our toes is covered with muscle. Not one area is exempt from tightness and tenseness due to fear. However, in most of us, it's the head, neck and shoulders that take the brunt of our anxiety. When these muscles in our neck tighten, it doesn't allow for the lymphatic fluids to flow easily causing this distorted feeling in our heads.
It's not dangerous but uncomfortable. The key in reducing that feeling falls on relaxing. Physical therapy can help in eliminating the muscle spasms and triggers, heat is relaxing but hydration is just as important in allowing the muscles to be well hydrated in working properly.
Talking with your doctor about the issue you have will help relieve your fears. We are not doctors and only can advise as to what we have been through. I'm glad you found this forum. Know that you are never alone. Breathe
I’ve spoken to a doctor but not about this symptom. The funny thing is i felt like i had this symptom months ago and I need to learn how to accept it is anxiety and to not let it take over me.
I feel because of my age, stress has taken a bigger toll. But I need to just fight through it. I do work out, which helps. But I need to stop thinking too much or scaring myself. Recently I was concerned about MS because a few times I woke up with a numb/tingly hand. One time both arms were asleep. But my doctor said it could just be anxiety and bad circulation. I’ve read on here on how some people had numb hands or hands that were asleep when waking up. And I try telling myself that if you aren’t getting the numbness while awake, then I really shouldn’t think about it?
Hi Robby, the forum deals strictly with anxiety and it's issues. If you have any doubts it is better to see your doctor or even a Neurologist who will clear this concern for you. Anxiety can present itself like many other issues and I would never want to steer you wrong. I hope you will run this by your GP. My best to you. Let us know the outcome please
Thank you Agora1. I really appreciate all the feedback you have given and will give a heads up in the future. I will also check out the YouTube videos you spoke about earlier on
Good Luck Robby, it's all about reaching our goal in feeling better again and enjoying life.
Hello! I know it’s been awhile. But everything is okay. I had an MRI done on my spine and neck. But I was clear. Just wanted to give you an update. Stress and anxiety can definitely put a toll on your body. I am still dealing with slight stress and eye symptoms from anxiety like jellly vision or seeing something move in the corner. But I believe it’s my body still getting over everything. Plus being hypersensitive. Thank you again for helping out in the past. My neurologist almost scared me because after he said no MS, he said there were findings but that it was normal. It related to my skull structure. Called it a cystical structure or something like that. But its benign.
Hi Robby36, I am so glad you did a follow up. I often wonder how people make out after having tests done. I'm so glad your neck and spine are okay. You cleared up your concerns about what you had been feeling and it's not physically cause. A time now to leave this all behind and move forward in life until anxiety tries to challenge you again. In accepting what anxiety can do to us, try working on acceptance strategies. Dr Claire Weekes book on "Hope & Help with your Nerves" is a great way to start. If you have read it already, read it again to freshen your mind. Her words are the foundation and key to getting better by getting rid of the doubts.
Thanks again for the update. Make it a great weekend and enjoy life. x
I get tingles all over, it's common
