Day one of lexapro. Man they weren’t kidding about the side effects. My anxiety is sky high and nausea has come and gone but everyone says it’s hard in the beginning. I’m sticking with it in hopes of finally being freed from this anxiety nightmare! Keep your fingers crossed

Halloweenguy, Day one of Lexapro, I would guess your anxiety and nausea are coming more from the fear of what can be expected than from the Lexapro. Yes by all means, give it a try. For me, it's been great. Taken with lunch every day. Have never regretted going on it. Good Luck to you.

Halloweenguy, I take lexapro as well . When I first started, I took only half because I was afraid of any side effects. A week later I took the whole amount. I really didn't notice any side effects. Now that's just me, everyone is different.

I take Lexapro too! I know it's worrisome at first, especially when your nerves are already sensitive from anxiety. It doesn't help that I hate taking medicines anyway. The first week was definitely the worst. Try taking it with a bland meal and when you feel nauseous, try nibbling on some toast or saltine crackers and sipping ginger ale or ginger tea. I take mine in the evening as it made me feel pretty tired in the beginning and that's how it fit best in my schedule, but try to figure out what time of day works best for you. If it becomes extremely bothersome, ask your doctor for a nausea medication. There are lots available if it is severe. It will get better, I'm sure of it.

On my first day of Lexapro (yesterday) I had no anxiety. I almost felt like my old self-again, though that may have been just a placebo affect as they said the full effects of medication aren't felt for a week or two. But then a few hours later I got light-headed and dizzy, I had to hit the floor face-first and stay there as it felt like the world was spinning, almost like being drunk. This caused me to have the most sever panic attack in my life and I went to the ER. I had no nausea from the Lexapro, but what I think happened was I just didn't eat enough. I had no solid foods since 11 pm the night before. All I had was a liquid Ensure protein shake along with the Lexapro at 8:30 am, so by 11 am (when I got dizzy) I was very hungry. At the ER I was given some food and felt better, and a full work-up showed nothing wrong with me. My doctor and I think that my blood sugar just dropped due to not eating and hydrating right with the Lexapro, because severe dizziness is a rare side effect. Today I decided not to take it and have had no anxiety, just a bit of left-over light-headedness, but I'm not severely dizzy like yesterday. I also had very little sleep last night and so am exhausted. I plan to try Lexapro again on Saturday when I am off from work this time with solid foods and lots of fluids to see if I suffer severe dizziness again or not. I want to see if it was because of the Lexapro or just because my blood sugar dropped. But I can't have another embarrassing incident at work. If only nausea was all the side effect I could feel, I'd be okay. There's ways to deal with that. But the dizziness I had was sever and scary, but again, it may not b because of Lexapro. I'll see on Saturday.
