I've had tinnitus for years now, likely a side effect of my taking Sertraline for so long. Yes, it can be maddening but most of the time I am oblivious to it. Of course I hear it right now because I'm thinking of it. At night, I sleep with a fan on and during the day, I work in a (strangely) loud library so I rarely notice it. When I'm home, I do put on some light music just so I can trick my brain into "listening" to something else. I wish you the best and please visit your doctor. <-- I'm telling myself this too.
