Effexor?: Hey everyone, have any of you all... - Anxiety Support
Effexor?
Welcome!
I take it. Been on it over a year at least. Probably over 2. I think it has helped some. You have to do your part to. Therapy to learn coping skills, relaxation techniques, recognizing triggers, getting to the root of the problem and retraining your brain on how you perceive and react to things. I’m a patient not a doctor. I personally don’t recommend it for short term use. I am trying hard to wean off mine. It’s a very long, very slow process. I accidentally forgot To put mine in my daily keys for the week and didn’t realize it I have never help so bad in all my life. It was psycho 5.0. Now I cut my dose a little bit it will take a while to get off. That scared the bejeezus out of me. Everyone I’ve talked to that takes it says it works but is hardest to get off. Crazy hard. Meds affect everyone differently so you
May be different. Best of luck!
Hey, i was talking cymbalta 60mg for 3 years and my doc switched me to effexor cold turkey 4 days ago i was kinda scared at first reading all about the withdrawals from cymbalta but he reassured me that they both are snri's that i should have no problem switching over which so far so good no w/d's. I just hope this works great for me and everyone else that is taking it. And yes he did mention that it was one of the hardest to get :/
I switched from Cymbalta to Effexor. Cymbalta caused bad heat flashes. Effexor works really good. It’s just so very bad when you try to get off of it. The change fromCymbalta to Effexor was seamless. It’s just trying to come off Effexor that has the worst withdrawals of most medicines. I have reduced my dose but so far that’s it. I’m scared to go lower yet but I’m trying to get off. Accidentally not taking it felt like I was dying.
We must be a lot a like. We are given the exact same meds. 😉 So I am slightly ahead of you in the game. I switched a couple years ago. If you ever have any questions I’m here.
We are lol, he also added serequel 25mg to take at night as an add on to efferox but ive been scared to take it 😭😭
I take clonazepan at night. It helps me sleep. Also trazadone which relaxes me. I have taken Seroquel. Not in a long time. Clonazepam is good. It’s also called Klonopin. If not I don’t sleep. I’m usually up all night anyway though because I don’t take it until almost morning. I like the quiet at night with my dog sleeping on my lap. Not a morning person.
Hi Kenny,
I am taking quetiapine @ Seroquel at night in a small dose to knock the night time anxiety out.
Getting good quality sleep is so important to mental and physical health.
Mirtazepine @ Avanza taken at night for it's sedating qualities in some people, is another alternative.
Hi Kenny,
My dose is 12.5mg and is prescribed off label use by my psychiatrist. This is my back up /fall back medication when my sleep gets upset (my definition is 3 nights of interrupted sleep). It has a half life of 7-8 hours so I try to take it before 10.00pm to get up at 7:00am for work, without feeling too affected. Slow starts to the day are better than feeling that way 24/7.
