Fluoxetine advice?

Recently I thought I was getting better. I tell my self it’s just a short period of nothing. That my mind is just playing tricks me. The dizziness the stomach pains. Chest pain. Fear of heart attack strokes. Vibration in my arm. All nothing.

But stress from normal life has beat me down again. And want to try my medication after 3 years. Has any one tried fluoxetine? Does it work for any one? I was prescribed this one months ago. But dare not take it. But I’m on my knees with.

Every advise will be much appreciated.

Thank you

Hi I was was pricribed fluoxetine 2 years ago and the really helped me with my anxiety I was on them just over a year been of them a while but think I need to try them again as my anxiety seems to be creeping in worse again it's always there but been manageble till latey.

They do take up to a months to start taking effect (working) but once they started to take effect they really helped.

Thank you Antonia.

Iv been worried about taking them. Iv read if taken with ibuprofen and aspirin can cause stomach bleeding and raise blood pressure. Speeds heart beat. Most things I’m afraid of. Or Am I just reading in to it to much?

Glad they helped you.

Thanks for your reply.

I didn't see anything on bleeding of the stomach they can cause acid reflux in the stomach I think that's why I got stomach tablets as well but hardly ever needed them tbh it's a scary thing to start tablets but trust your doctor you can only try them and see how it goes I was the worst for googling and reading the instruction leaflet my advice don't look haha.

Thank you.

I really do hope you get it sorted it's not a nice condition to live with but it does get easier in time

I can’t thank you enough. This is just the kind of thing I need to hear. I missed my tablet today purposely from worry. But if you say they work it will give me the confidence to continue. I know I shouldn’t google as it does make you worry more.

Thank you for taking the time for your advise.

Hopefully you won’t have to go back on them again. I wish you all the best.

It’s a very lonely feeling. Like no one understands. And I wondered is it just me? I can except now I have a problem. After 3 years of so many tests.

May I ask, how did you stop taking them ? How did you know it was time to stop?

Are they not addictive? Like you never want to come off them.

in reply to Lamby50

I didn't come completely of them my does was lowered gradually and then they stopped took 3 months for me to come of them not due to addicion just so they can see that I was ready to stop and it's not good to just stop straight away I felt ready although you can feel better and not be ready but I was keen to try other ways than medication like CBT and exercise I was never keen on taking medication as you hear so many horror storys but I got that bad I was will to try anything. So was my decision but my doctor that suggested I come of them. I do know people that have been on them for years some people need them ling term some don't everyone is differnt but please if you feel "better" dont just stop as it can be harmful to your mind and health they slowly take you off them to see that your ready and for your health and body to a just. Not sure fluoxetine are addictive but I suppose and kind of medication is but don't worry you won't be looking for your closest drug deal as I was too in the beginning as addiction was my fear av never been in to taking medication as that was 1 of my fears but I was fine as av said I still have anxiety just found ways to control it a bit better

Thank you so much for your advise. It’s helped me so much.

I feel better about taking them now. It’s took a long time. But gradually learning it’s all anxiety. Iv always been pretty confident and I find it so strange how it can just suddenly hit you and stays with you.

I can’t thank you enough for your help. Youv gave me another step forward.

Thank you x
