Anxiety & social events

Hi!

I was wondering how you guys deal with attending social events when you're having a particularly bad day and your anxiety is worse than usual?

I am supposed to go to my grandmother's 80th birthday dinner tonight, all ny family will be there, they want me to sing songs... And I just want to hide in my bedroom and try to relax and calm down. I really don't want to go but I feel guilty, which I know is stupid because I wouldn't feel guilty if it was another illness, but I can't decide if I should just get over it and go even if I know I will feel awful all night, or skip the party and stay home.

What do you guys think?

Thanks!

Ari

Personally I've always avoided those situations. I am now 35 completely alone except for 2 amazing parents that just want to help. I don't know what you should do but I do the consequences for not doing any social functions. It pretty much ruins your life. Good luck!
