any experience with venlafaxine (effexor xr)?

I've been taking it for 3 days and I've been having a lot of annoying symptoms like nausea, headache, very dilated pupils, sort of high feeling, etc. Does this go away and do you think this drug is worth the side effects?

Hi niletaki! Those side effects sound pretty typical. They will subside and hopefully go away. They suck, I know :(

It can take 6 weeks, or even longer, to be sure a medication is going to be the right one for you. The waiting and side effects are the hardest part.

I hope you feel much better soon!

Been taking it for over 10 yrs have no problems taking a high dose. Call doctor maybe need a new dose. But it takes about three weeks to get use to.

I took venlafaxine for almost ten years and the symptoms you mention are side-effects and although they are unfortunate once you begin taking them, they do diminish and eventually disappear. I found venlafaxine to be one of the best anti-depressants currently around and I stopped taking them only on my psychiatrist's advice since he began treating me with a drug which could fatally interact with the new drug. Persevere and good luck.
