I have been struggling with anxiety for the past 3 months. I am working on breathing techniques and CBT. Some days I feel good and others not good with lots of intrusive thoughts. Just trying to understand what recovery feels like?

Recovery
It is very difficult with the intrusive thoughts. I have been struggling with anxiety and found the GP has not been helpful leaving me stuck to be honest. The anxiety can stop you sleeping and I found the sleeping tablets very helpful but they have withdrawn them. They say talking therapies help but you don't feel like doing it at times you just want help to lift the anxiety. CBT is helpful but when you are depressed it is hard to change your thought patterns if you know what I mean? I think some medication is very helpful not sure what you think?
I've struggled with anxiety for as long as I can recall, and I honestly don't even know if I'll reach "recovery". You have to remember that you are your own worst enemy, but it is also only you who can make you better. When you have a thought that you know you shouldn't be having, stop it dead in its tracks. Come up with something to say to yourself every time it happens, and then immediately try to find something to distract yourself. Read, drop and do push ups, call someone, look at stupid stuff online, anything. Figuring out what is causing your anxiety and dealing with it properly will help greatly in getting you to your recovery. I wish you the best!
