Fluoxetine...no more

Hi,

I've been on the highest dose of fluoxetine for 18 months and have started tapering off it.

I'm feeling quite low, poor concentration, exhausted and anxious/restless around people and especially when in work. I just want to be alone.

Is this withdrawal or poor mental health? I'm so confused by it all I just want it to go away.

Hi summer81, I would tend to think it's a part of the withdrawal. After being on the drug for 18months, even with slow tapering, you will experience symptoms. After all, your brain got use to the drug replacing what it needed so it balks at wanting more. As you are tapering, you may notice a lower mood as well as some other vague symptoms. All a part of the withdrawal. As the dosage lowers and your body adjusts to the lower levels, it will even out some. But not completely. This is when you need support and patience in knowing that you will eventually start feeling better when the drug is out of your system and has a chance to heal.

It's not easy but well worth it. At the end you should start feeling like yourself again. My best wishes for a successful withdrawal. x
