Hello

When we have anxiety we always focus on all the negative comments about anything and even though I have not looked as there are so many posts I bet if we had the time there would be some positive posts about this medication but we tend to miss these

We have to remember that even though we all suffer with anxiety what suites one does not always suite another when it comes to treatment so any negatives you may have read is not you for all you know these could work for you but without trying them you will never know :-)

Maybe just tell yourself you will try them a week at a time even a day at a time if a week seems to long see how you personally feel on them and if for some reason you are not happy you can stop them any time you want you are in control but at least if you had to stop them and go back and see your Doctor you can honestly say you gave them ago

If you are really struggling after trying to think this way go back and tell your GP your fears they may offer an alternative but worth maybe trying first :-)

Let us know how you get on :-)

Take Care x

Hello, I'm currently on fluoxetine 20mg a day and I have no problems with them.been on and off them for approximately 14yrs.the only thing I've noticed is when on them I do tend to yawn more but it causes no problem in doing so .everybody reacts differently so try them and let your doctor know of any concerns if you have any would be my advice.there is plenty of alternatives if fluoxetine doesn't suit you.

Thanks for reply. She only gave me choice of two and other was a beta blocker which she said wouldn't do anything for my mind. Think I will take first tablet tomorrow morning as I have just taken my last Diazapam that I had been saving. I know it's stupid but I got myself worked up about taking the fluoxetine. I will bite the bullet and start tomorrow.

Apologies for my comment on there been plenty of alternatives to fluoxetine, obviously I don't know what other meds you may or may not be on or other conditions you may have which could interact with any possible alternative

You do right though, give them a go and see how you get on.

I'm on week 5 of been back on fluoxetine after a 4 yr experience of trying just about every SSRI and SNRI and a NaSSA.So far so good after a rough week at the beginning doing a cross taper with venlafaxine. I think if most people was to look at possible side effects of say paracetamol or even a vitamin supplement then they would probably be wary and concerned, not that it's a bad thing to be well informed far from it.anyway.

Good look with them and if you want to let me know how you get on or have any questions then feel free to ask

Yes you are right even the humble paracetamol has side effects. Don't know what all those letters stand for but you have certainly tried a lot

The letters?

Basically different types of antidepressants

I'm in the same position as you right now except with Lexapro. I'm just going to bite the bullet and take it today. You just tell yourself that you can stop anytime if it gets bad. Start with a low dose and work your way up

These say take in morning so tomorrow .......

The dose is 20 mg so that must be the lowest anyway

20mg is the lowest dose and yes I find taking them in the morning works best for me,just bear in mind though that sometimes that they may make you feel worse before you feel better and can take up to 4 weeks to fully get in your system but that said apart from the initial cross taper I did I wasn't effected

It can be a case of one step forward, two steps back.everyone responds differently if at all and a lot of side effects only last a few weeks.the diazepam should take the edge off, hopefully though there won't be one

I have no choice but to take them tomorrow. Diazapam are finished . They are the words I used " take the edge off"

Damn stupid giving me something that would last a week. Did she think I would be miraculously cured I that time
