I feel like I'm slipping away. I know it's the night time anxiety kicking in. I was doing good and then I had a disagreement with my Hubby, now I'm feeling panicky and scared like I can't breathe or something. Also like I'm not really here. I don't know.

Tanae, It sounds like for you, night time is when your anxiety is higher. Having had a disagreement with your husband put the adrenaline in motion. Our nerves are so sensitized that it doesn't take much to push us over the edge. The panicky feeling comes when we feel we are not in control of our life. Then comes the tighten muscles that give the feeling like we cant breathe. But we can, it's just the diaphragm muscles responding to our fear that makes it harder to take that deep breath. So much goes on in our brain when under the threat of fear and anxiety. This is the time to chill out. It's your "me" time to meditate and deep breathe getting yourself ready for a good night's sleep. Your body needs to regenerate and your brain needs to stop the racing thoughts. Try not to rehash what happened, instead think of good thoughts, pleasant thoughts giving you calm and peace. As you close your eyes, think of you and you alone walking through a garden of beautiful flowers of all colors of the rainbow. The air is cool, the temperature is perfect. Ahead you see a door, you open the door to Utopia. Immediately upon entering the room, there is a peace that comes over you. Don't question the feeling but take in the calm. You can breathe easily, your mind is quiet. You can hardly believe how relaxed you feel. You are ready to sleep.

Goodnight Tanae! Pleasant dreams...

I'm so sorry you are feeling panic. I am in the same situation right now. My irregular heart beat has been going for 4 hrs. and you can guess what I'm thinking.....I will never get used to it, nor face it feeling no fear. I have a friend, a retired RN who worked in the physciatric dept. of our hospital. She was talking to me about her 90 yr. old mom, and told me she often suffers from the "sun down" effect. Truthfully I'd never heard of it, but it makes sense. Apparently many people get more anxiety when it gets dark out. Sure could be me. Take care
