Panic attack starting quick help
CDanielle98, you will be okay... I'll stay on to support you.
Breathe . It helps so much to know that it is an anxiety attack and not detrimental to your health
Try pacing if you can, it will help use up the adrenaline that's building.
Trying to breathe but I can't take a deep breath and I used my paper bag and it helped a little bit but I Could feel my upper lip starting to tingle
That's okay, you're still thinking too much negative. I know it seems scary, and is scary, but you need to tell yourself that YOU ARE OK. This attack feels like hell, but you need to tell yourself and KNOW that you are in control.
Feeling a little better thank you all
You need to find personal, helpful words that you can tell yourself. "This is just anxiety" never say "my anxiety" DO NOT ALLOW IT TO OWN YOU, IT IS NOT YOURS. "I am okay" "calm down" breathe while doing this. In through the now, imagine all good rushing into your body through your toes. Breathe out through mouth, imagine all bad rushing out of your toes
I always get away from the situation I'm in and go brush my hair or do my make up, for some reason it helps, probably focusing on something else helps..maybe that will help to distract yourself? I hope
Hi dear, are you settling down more and more now? Find a quiet place now and maybe sit for a while and just relax and continue slow breathing. Maybe you might want something warm to sip on. Being fearful is exhausting as well as dehydrating. I hope the rest of the evening is calmer for you. I'm glad you reached out to the forum. Mommysangel was all that for you. How blessed you were. xx Take it easy!
One thing I tried and it really helped. Get a really soft Teddy Bear or soft toy, get it from a charity shop, sit and stroke it gently whilst doing your breathing, I found the rhythm of the breathing & stroking very calming. Good luck and try and reassure yourself that you will get through it I found the rhythm of the breathing & stroking very calming.
