Dentist anxiety

I have to have route canal treatment and I am dreading the numbing injections. I just fall apart whenever I think about it.

I take Bach Rescue Remedy before I go to the dentist. You can get it from Boots. You put a few drops on your tongue. It calms me down. Start taking it from now.

I don't like the dentist either and more than dread going which I think is most of the problem because I build it all up in my head and make it a nightmare before I even get there , I have fed the fear until it is over flowing !!!

Does your dentist know you fear , I would suggest you tell them once they know they can do their best to reassure you

I do not like those injections either , but what I have found is when they have to put them in if they can leave me in a more sat up position for some reason I feel it less , maybe you could ask if they could try that with you ?

It will all be over in seconds the numbing bit , try singing or counting in your head or a little stress ball in your hand

Think about if you did not have it done , you could end up with dreadful toothache or even worse loosing a good tooth which you would still have to have an injection to get it out so this is the best thing for your tooth

I know it is not easy but when the fear comes in tell yourself I am not going to worry I am not going yet , I will think about it when I have to and that is not now

Ah thankyou so much for your kind and true words. Like you I've talked myself into a state and I know your advice is so true. I go on Wednesday and if I remember I will message you when I'm done. Again thankyou so much for taking time to reply.

Yes I have done it so many times and then kicked myself after for putting myself through it , our heads always make a massive scenario out of a fear !

Hiya I went and have first stage done and it wasn't as bad as I worked myself up to believe. I did explain my anxiety to my dentist and she was completely simpathet once again thank you x
