Panic over copd.

Iv`e read about Leonard Nimoy`s recent death from copd, & the fact that he got the disease despite quitting smoking 30 years ago. I quit over 20 years ago, & now I`m having terrible stress thinking that I have it, or am going to get it.

Oh dear! Although having never smoked I can see exactly where you're coming from as I have health anxiety too and any little news item like this will set me off.

I try and say to myself just because so-and-so had it doesn't mean I will too.

The man was in his eighties for pity's sake - the average life expectancy for U.S males is about 76! There are people out there with COPD who have never smoked a cigarette in their lives so quit worrying!
