Citalopram
hi shell, o/h is having same problem but with mirtazapine, do you feel you are eating more? or is it the tablets themselves that are causing the weight gain? you could always ask doc if there is a different a/d you could take. jasper xx
He's suggest I come off them now, as it increases your appetite I don't feel I can come off them yet though
Hi shell
I put on a couple of stone with citalopram have been on 40mg for about 4 years. I have been doing ww and exercise and have lost modt of weight now. Its tough loosing weight whilst on meds especially as this gets you down. Wouldn't say was eating more, just meds made me put on weight.

Hi when I was on citralopram I put on about 1/2 a stone, which I lost very easily. Since I've been on dosulepin and propanalol I've put on nearly 2 stone. I have been comfort eating a lot which I feel was a big factor I was also doing no exercise at all. I was just moving from the settee to the kitchen back to the settee then bed. I rejoined weight watchers last week.
Hi
Ive been on Dosulepin for 2 years and always felt hungry and put on over a stone, didnt realise it could be meds till I read it can increase appetite. Now in midst of switching to Citalopram! Can this cause weight gain too? x
Hi Shell
I have also piled on the weight I'm on 10mg I spoke to my doctor oh no she said it doesn't put on weight she's having a laugh everyone says you put on weight. I have been on them for 4 months so I am coming of them slowly. You take care xx
Hi.
I have been on Citalopram for three months and so far my weight has been the same. I haven't noticed my appetite being any greater than usual. I know some people do find this side effect however it is possible to have a decreased appetite as a side effect, although this is less common. I am on 20mg just now. The worst I have had is that I feel tired and I think this could still be affecting me 3 months on either that or it's my lack of fitness...
