Hi Perrytan
I'm watching tv too, thought I might manage a few hours sleep but it hasn't happened yet!! Think I'll have a nice warm drink and see if I can nod off. Good luck Perry, hope you get some sleep too. X
Thankyou hope you do to xx
Hi Perry, my ex husband used to work nights and I used to put the radio on low and put a small lamp on. I felt I could sleep then.
Take care xx
Hi winter I keep all the lights on and the tv I got to sleep at 5 this morning and was awake again at 9 so I got some sleep xx
Hi Perry,
I don't have a husband but I live by myself and get what you describe, I am sometimes so scared at night my noises I cant move. I found this thing on the internet when I was looking for ways to get to sleep and it really helps - in fact its been about 6 months since I was awake terrified at night. I think I have put my own twist on it now as I've been doing it for so long! I hope it helps you as I know how horrible it is: anxietybc.com/sites/default...
I also sometimes take the night time Kalms if I am feeling particularly anxious but I would check the label if you are on any other medication.
Maybe also look at meditation or mindfulness courses as they are meant to be of help?
Good luck!
Thankyou pip law for the website I'll have a look at that I'm just glad my husband dosnt work every night I wouldn't get no sleep at all
Hi PipLaw..Thanks for putting the link in for the relaxation exercises...it's really helpful.
PD7979xxx
Hi perrytan, I understand how you must feel. My husband works nights too and when I first moved to where I live now ( very, very isolated and rural and mega quiet) every noise sounded like everything from my worse nightmare! I used to leave every light on in the house...till I got the electric bill!!!
...sorry Perry, the whole message didn't come through..but basically, just wanted to say that all the noises we hear at night are magnified cos our senses are on hyper alert (perfect for the IT of anxiety) and those noises are usually just normal house noises and the wildlife outside mooching about. Once your house is secured and you have done some relaxing things to prepare for sleep there is nothing really to be afraid of. Hope it gets easier for you. Love PD7979
Hi PD7979 thanks for your reply I leave all the lights on aswell I got to sleep at 5 this morning and then up at 9 so I got some sleep
Hi - I know how you feel. I find it helpful to listen to a talk radio station, it keeps you company and deters your mind..... Or cuddle up on the sofa with a duvet and have the Tv on as background x
Hi zoned thankyou for your reply I stayed up all night on the sofa with the tv on got to sleep at 5 this morning and woke up at 9 so didn't get much sleep but going to catch up tonight xx
Hi perrytan,
Why cant you get off to sleep, nothing happens when your husbands there, cant you pretend he's down stairs watching TV, try leaving the downstairs TV on. This may lull you off to sleep. on the other hand I'm thinking of starting a ladies baby sitting service, if you think it would be a viable business, please let me know.
